Relays as Logic Control

Relay is the switch that operated by an electromagnet to open or close one or many sets of contacts. It's used to isolate one electrical circuit to another, one electrical circuit control another electrical circuit. Mostly, low electrical circuit used to control another high electrical circuit.

For example a low voltage battery circuit can use a relay to switch a 230V AC mains circuit. There is no electrical connection inside the relay between the two circuits, the link is magnetic and mechanical.

By this site i want to share my experiences in the relay application, especially to create simple automation controller using a group of relay. And some time this controller can replace the function of other controllers like PLC and Microcontroller. It's mean the relay ferforms as a logic controller.

As example, most conveyor in industry environment controlled by PLC or Microcontroller. This PLC or Microcontroller jobs can took over by a group of relay that circuited and function like PLC or Microcontroller. Just open my project pages to see each my projects done.

These relay controllers very helpfull, in some conditions:

  • ...the PLC or Microcontroller was spoil or damaged (hardware issues)
  • ...the PLC or Microcontroller was spoil due to the program resetted and you don't have any programmable tool or you don't have any experiences to use it (software issues)
  • ...You have some used relays and don't have budget to buy another PLC or Microcontroller.

Since relay never use the program, you would never worries to loose or resetted any program like PLC's or Microcontrollers.

Ok lets go thru the sites to have fun with relays!

Thanks for coming.
